Almost three years after their release “Lake” Odessa appear appealing their scene again. Actually, their privacy breaktime should not have been a musical discontinuance, too. But as it sometimes goes things happen abruptly. Although the EP “Memory Leak” already was pre-produced in 2009 it got just recently a detailed finishing. Leave off the idea these tracks could have had their half-life already, not at all. Odessa stay here and now, presenting reduced, cool-organic House with wide atmospheres. Even though Odessa music keeps ascetical aesthetics since the beginning a certain pathos can deeply be felt. Once again, but just for one track (“L’Aurore”), Frédérique Franke’s exceptional voice comes to effect. “Memory Leak” (A1) equals a dream travel that is full of memory leaking little snaps. This track shows Odessa’s excellence for Afterhour spirit. “L’Aurore” (A2) became a House-Pop song. Frédérique Franke’s voice controls wonderfully the dramatic of the scene. Fortunately, Odessa have not got at all an affinity for artificial narcissism. “Gold & Confusion” (B1) finally shapes the whole idea of this EP. This rather minimal track procures its relevance and provides the breath of the whole release. The female part of the reputable Walloon Electronica duo Ming started in 2005 a new Minimal House duo called Odessa (together w/ Philip May from Geneva) featuring her voice perfectly saving. Odessa’s debut was released in 2006, followed by bootlegged remakes/remixes for Superpitcher, Kalkbrenner, Voigt, in which they converged their reduced Electronica with deep housy Techno. In 2007 their EP “Donna” came out and was right away charted by artists such as Dominik Eulberg, Ricardo V., Mia. “Lake” (2008) consolidated their new school Belgian Minimal House vantage.
