Historically, the judges have chosen with remarkable prescience, accurately predicting the authors who will craft the future of British fiction. Barker, Barnes, Hollinghurst, Ishiguro, Mitchell, Rushdie, Smith, Tremain, Winterson--long before they were household names they were Granta Best of Young British Novelists.
