'And Suddenly, We were There, Upon that Floating World' ~ Anthem, Floating World Here's what some people have said: 'A thoughtful collection of spacious, layered songs; music that leans towards art more-so than it does towards pop.' 'Suspended by a cloud of reverb, Floating World is one where the atmosphere is filled with plaintive, pleasantly awkward, and charming calls of music. Loaded with chimey guitar work, and dare I say it, pretty drumming.' 'This Mississippi resident's album, through smooth and often-catchy art-rock, communicates imagery reaching from the vastness of the celestial realms to man's unspoken sincerity...and everywhere between.' 'Floating World ventures out and returns for each song. It deconstructs, then reassembles, each answer to the very questions it poses. The disparate aspects of the album are cohesive because of each song's inquiry into small, floating moments in time. Thoughts float out of context and into an area of recontextualization.' 'Floating World is innocent and self-assured.' As for me: Fully intended to be heard as an album, Floating World takes the listener on a journey through love, loss, confusion, growth, redemption, and understanding. You can expect to hear guitars, drums, electric bass, human vocals, violin, ebow, microkorg synthesizer, glockenspiel, and the occasional melodica. The album was written over a two year span, with most of it being recorded in my home during June & July of 2008. I hand-made all the inserts and conscripted a group of friends to help me assemble the initial 47-CD run. I hope you enjoy the music. Thanks, Walter.
