The album Coming Up was originally released in September 1996 and marked the creative and commercial pinnacle for a revitalised Suede – and an impressive debut for the band's new members, guitarist Richard Oakes and keyboard player Neil Codling. The album went straight to No. 1 on the UK album charts and spent almost a full year on the charts. At the same time, it spawned five UK Top 10 singles: "Trash", "Beautiful Ones", "Saturday Night", "Lazy" and "Filmstar". The album embraces both gritty glam-rock anthems, atmospheric ballads, and magnificent stadium hymns, and 30 years later, Coming Up has still retained all its original impact.

To mark the 30th anniversary, Coming Up is now being released as a comprehensive 5CD edition in exclusive 7" x 7" deluxe packaging.

CD1 features the album with a new remaster from the original master tapes, carried out at AiR Studios, where the sound appears fresher than ever. CD2 contains a brand new alternative version of the album remixed by the acclaimed Steven Wilson. Created in close collaboration with the band, the remix offers a fascinating new perspective on the beloved classic.

CD3 and CD4 compile bonus tracks and B-sides from the original CD singles for the album's five hits. Here you will find fan favourites such as "Europe Is Our Playground", "Money", "Young Men", "Sadie" and "W.S.D.", as well as the first three B-sides Suede recorded with Richard Oakes – "Asda Town", "Bentswood Boys" and "Together" are also included. The edition concludes with the band's sensitive interpretation of Robert Wyatt and Elvis Costello's "Shipbuilding", originally released on the War Child album Help in 1995.

CD5, Coming Up At The BBC, recreates the album's original track order through BBC Radio 1 Sessions and recordings from Reading Festival in 1996 and 1997.

The edition is presented in exclusive 7" deluxe packaging with a 20-page booklet. The album's original graphic designer, Howard Wakefield, was responsible for the design, featuring digitally restored versions of Nick Knight and Peter Saville's iconic photographs and artwork. The booklet also contains new liner notes by Miranda Sawyer, based on interviews from 2026 with Richard Oakes and Neil Codling.
