InfeXBloc (TM) - Building a Shield for Mom

Since Spring 2020, the Corona-virus pandemic has caused uncontrolled harm to the Senior Care industry. Over 55,000 seniors have died in Nursing homes and other long-term care communities. Corona-virus has been found to be 200 - 600 times deadly on the 75-90 age group than on the 20-30 age group and has exposed a tragic weakness of the Senior Care industry. No one person or business or agency can be blamed for this catastrophe. There is a trust deficit emerging in the market now. Occupancy rates are sinking, marketing pipelines are clogged, no tours are possible, visitations are seriously restricted, operating costs are going up, insurance premiums are increasing dramatically, the specter of astronomical negligence lawsuits hangs overhead, existing projects will need cash infusions, new projects are hard to justify ... just uncontrolled harm! The most vulnerable have been hurt the most.. our hearts are sad!How could we have been so unprepared? Yet, this is not the first time! We were caught unprepared like this on September 11, 2001 too. So, what can we do! What lessons learned from the aftermath of 9-11 could we apply to the aftermath of the Corona-virus pandemic?First, a commitment to learn and make an honest assessmentSecond, seek to understand the foundations of safety and resilienceThird, identify the hazard, truly name the problemFourth, understand the solution that worked after 9-11 for commercial aviationFifth, recognize the implications of the solutionSixth, commit to deliver safety, not just complianceSeventh, regaining trust begins with delivering transparencyEight, use this adversity to 'open up the box'Talk of safety must go well beyond PPE.. the last line of defense.
