Gunner Eugene Halstadt
To earn money to go to NASA's Space Camp, Denver high schooler, Gunner Halstadt, accepts an internship with Independent Aerospace of Arizona, where his sponsor, Daniel Pope, will be launched aboard an experimental automated capsule on its maiden flight.
To join the youngest Capsule Communications Crew, ever, Gunner suppresses his big city sensibilities to bond with Austin Cisneros, an eccentric, home schooled intern; training like true astronauts in an identical capsule programmed to stream live feeds from the capsule in space.
The rocket lifts off on the appointed day and time.
The capsule orbits the Earth according to plan.
All systems remain: Normative, all systems remain: Go, until a totally unanticipated scenario puts the interns in extreme, terminal danger.
Can Gunner save the youngest crew, ever?
