Gender Perspective on Learning Styles: Tolerance for Ambiguity: the Case of English Language Learning Context

Ambiguity tolerance first emerged in psychology, entered learning settings as a learning style. Ambiguity tolerance can be of facilitating or impeding role based on its degree. As awareness of learning style of learners has become of vital importance to teachers in past decades, this book tries to explore functions of ambiguity tolerance in language learning with a focus on gender role in English language learners' tolerance for ambiguity. The book comprises five chapters, and it starts with clarifying the concept of ambiguity tolerance and it also includes quite a comprehensive record of ambiguity tolerance scales in the first chapter. Further, in chapter two, the role of ambiguity tolerance in language learning and desirable degree of that are discussed and previous studies on the impact of ambiguity tolerance on different dimensions of English language learning are reviewed. Chapter three encompasses the detailed information on methodology of the current study. The results and implications for English language teachers, learners, and materials developers are provided in chapter four and five respectively.
