The development experience of Kerala is somewhat of a jigsaw puzzle for social science researchers all over the world. Kerala, hence, continues to be a much-researched state of India. The Kerala model of development, refers to the state's achievement of significant improvements in material conditions of living, reflected in indicators of social development that are comparable to that of many developed countries, even though the state's per capita income is low in comparison to them. Agriculture contributes to development as an economic activity, as a livelihood, as a provider of food security to nation and as a major a source of income for the majority of the rural poor. The level of agricultural development of different districts of Kerala was estimated with the help of composite index of development based on several variables combined in an optimum manner. The book will help the students, scientists and policy makers to understand the agricultural development and factors of agricultural development of different districts of Kerala state.
