This is what I consider to be the missing story about Captain Ahab. It will take you from the time of his birth to the first mention of his name in Herman Melville's novel 'Moby Dick'. This story will explain to you, the people and events that shaped the man into that figure you see in Herman Melville's novel. Hopefully for you it will answer all the lingering questions about just who was Captain Ahab, and what transpired in his life that made him that revengeful, compulsive madman you find in Herman Melville's novel. No one could ever do justice to the legacy left behind by Herman Melville, and I have no illusions that I have done so.
