Veterinarian Charlotte Parker is unemployed and homeless. It's been a decade since she's been back to Aspen Cove. She blames her father, Doc Parker, for the death of her mother and hasn't been able to face him or the pain of losing her until now.



On the treacherous trip up the snowy mountain, she rescues a stranger with a dog. The man should be grateful, but instead he's surly and disagreeable. She considers booting him back into the snow, but she could never do that to the dog.



War hero Trig Whatley is looking for somewhere to call home. Since losing his leg in Afghanistan, he hasn't found a place to fit in, or a woman who sees him for the strong, whole man he is. When he accepts his friend's invitation to visit Aspen Cove, he ends up stranded on a desolate mountain highway. Help arrives in the form of Charlotte, a woman he's sure would have left him in the cold if he didn't have a dog.

She's haunted by her past. He's looking forward to a future. Can they find what they need under the mistletoe, or will they go their separate ways by the time Auld Lang Syne plays?
