When it comes to life, Newton Matos had all the obstacles imaginable: sexual and physical abuse, a drug-addicted mother, the violence of gang life, homelessness, and a criminal record-all before he turned eighteen.




Joining the US Navy was an escape from his harrowing past, but Newton couldn't run away forever. When the trauma from his childhood and his deployments became too much, he cracked. Suicidal and suffering from the worst case of PTSD ever diagnosed by Navy and civilian doctors, Newton discovered the healing powers of therapy, and his life began to change.
