Does It Matter? Does it matter what you believe about Genesis? Are the first eleven chapters of Genesis simply a story designed to transmit really good information? Is it only a narrative developed by middle-eastern nomads to explain the creation? Or, is the Genesis account a historical, real event that occurred in real space and in a definable time? A real event carries a different authority than a fictional account designed to transmit ideas. What you believe about the first eleven chapters of Genesis will impact what you believe about the authority, knowledge, yourself, and the Gospel. Since the Genesis account is a real account that occurred in real space and in real time, it carries a greater authority. The real events in Genesis chapter 1 through chapter 11 provide the authoritative foundation for doctrine, truth, and the Gospel. It does matter what you believe about Genesis.
