This is very likely the first and only book which I will ever write. Although it is only 249 pages in length, it required twenty years of work to complete -- such is the art of writing poems, in my experience. Dancing Over Fire is essentially a memoir of some of the Little Pieces of my Life. It captures some meaningful moments and lessons from my sixty years of living in this world, and it covers an array of subjects, feelings and hard questions which have made lasting impressions upon me and which have hounded my soul. Though my experiences are unique to me, the observations and sentiments which I have chosen to express in writing should be relatable to any adult. I have intentionally woven a thread of Christian principles throughout much of the book, with many pertinent Biblical verses provided as footnotes. My aim is to be honestly self-reflective, not sanctimonious nor smug. The book is a compilation of poetry, prose and short stories which I have written in simple styles, and they are easy to read -- though I would suggest reading them slowly. If you have ever been sad, angry, lonely, lost, beaten, smitten, amused, silly, rejected, or in search of some greater meaning; the burdens of being human are lessened and the joys are greater if you know that you are not alone. I'm just trying to figure out the meaning and value which must be hidden within these sixty years of madness. If you are interested, these are the tales I have to tell you . . . . Daniel P.
