Sandler's luminous poetry speaks to her generation of Baby Boomers, a demographic often overlooked in contemporary writing. In massive numbers they face the prospects of loss-of youth, of self, of loved ones, of the planet, and particularly of time-as their era of idealism writes its final chapters. Yet she finds that each loss is a portal to discovery and often expresses this through elements she observes with a keen eye in the natural world. A graduate of the University of Michigan, Sandler has lived in San Diego for over forty years and is a wife, mother, grandmother, and dog lover, as well as a docent and historian at the San Diego Botanic Garden.
