Stories From the Table
Joshua Bledsoe
Accidents. Illness. Domestic violence. Low-wage jobs. Discrimination. Addiction. These are issues that may or may not come to mind as reasons for homelessness, but they appear in the play Stories from the Table. This is a fictional story based on the true stories from Hendersonville, NC's low-income and homeless community members. Playwright Joshua Bledsoe "spent two years listening to guests from a 'worship meal' hosted by a few dedicated volunteers hoping to create a space for relational connections with their neighbors." Stories from the Table follows the journey of Kevin, a former star high school athlete, who finds himself suddenly homeless due to Opiod addiction. Stories from the Table aims to raise awareness of the day-to-day struggles of those experiencing homelessness.
