The final battle of the War of 1812 was fought in January of 1815, after the war had actually ended. It was fought in an open ground between the Mississippi River and swamp land outside of New Orleans. It was a decisive American victory and can be credited with propelling the military leader of the battle, Andrew Jackson, into the White House.
