Scholar George Wesley Buchanan attempts to decipher the meaning of the Book of Daniel through detailed exegesis of the Book in Hebrew, English, and Aramaic in proximity to one another for comparison. Sections of text are broken down and explored in technical detail, followed by commentary. Buchanan argues that the Book of Daniel was not originally written as a prophecy intended to be fulfilled anytime after the second century BIA (Before International Age). Rather, the various chapters, if read as dramas rather than as tracts for hard times, should be understood in terms of festivity and celebration.
