When Ana is bought by yet another new master, she doesn't expect anything to change for her. All her life, she has been passed off to whoever thinks her sponsorship (the money an anonymous donor pays on her behalf) is worth the trouble of a blind slave. Ana expects hostility from the other slaves in her new home, not a chance to make friends. She expects this master to dismiss her value quickly, not to be given a job that only she can do.
