The purpose of this book is to explore events in the author's life before memories disappear in the initial stages of dementia. The story begins in Depression days oilfield towns in the 1930s. The narrative is focused mostly on 10 years in the author's life between 1943 and 1953 while growing up on a farm in Missouri. As thoughts come to mind, he intersperses in the chronology random opinion pieces on sexual awakening, a kidnapping, a visit by a President, a hospital seduction and a student demonstration. In a unique approach, his reminiscences are accompanied by the obituaries of friends and acquaintances.
