Who is there for you in your big moments? Immediate family, the love of your life, or your friends? Jacob Darren has worked his entire life to be the best soccer player, but when that dream falls apart, he has his best friend, Dani Gonzalez, to help him through it. During their freshman year at Wake Forest, Dani and Jake were inseparable. When he transferred to Elon, their friendship persevered with phone calls and emails, replacing TV watching and late night food runs.

As the trio moved into true adulthood, Jake reconnected with Lindsay. As their romance budded, everyone important to Jake--his parents, sister, and Dani--all believed he found the one. But after years of ostensibly having it all--looks, a dream job, loyal friends, and the love of his life--Jake's perfect life crumbled. If you ask Dani, she has no clue what happened, only that her happy world with Jake was over.
