This is Mike's story. And you know what? It's your story too. This is so much more than one man's battle with cancer. It's more than one man struggling to find meaning in suffering. It's more than one man's victory. This is for all of us. We all battle with something, we all struggle, we all wrestle and question, we all suffer. And we all can be victorious. Someday. So as you read the story that unfolds in the pages of this book please don't read it as a spectator. Walk this road too; make it your own journey, your own battle, your own quest to find the meaning in suffering, to find God when you feel alone, to find the Light in the midst of deep darkness. Make this your story. You may not have cancer, you may never have battled that particular monster . . . but you've battled a monster. You've struggled, you've prayed and argued with God and cried in His arms. You've suffered in some way. In March of 2008 Mike was diagnosed with colon cancer. He was thirty-five, healthy, married with three beautiful daughters. He was not a candidate for cancer. And yet, there it was. What you have here is a compilation of Mike's journaling interspersed with some other thoughts he's had since that awful, wonderful year. You'll find a chronological order of events from diagnosis to first doctor visits to surgery to chemo to more surgeries. It's all there. But more than a record of events you'll find a spiritual journey that will resonate with anyone who has been touched by a trial or suffering or sorrow or pain. There is brutal honesty in these pages. Because we've all been touched by suffering in one way or another, this book is valuable for anyone. Hopefully, you'll find some hope here, some joy, maybe some laughter, some enlightenment, some inspiration. And hopefully, through the story in these pages you'll come to see God in a different light.
