The water was cascading over her skin with trails of shampoo intermingling in soapy foam around her feet when all of a sudden she felt it coming on. Instantly she couldn't breathe; she was drowning; she was confined; she had to get out of the shower! Now! She shoved the shower door back and grabbed the towel, wrapped it around her and started pacing the bedroom and down the hall to try to walk it off. She had panic attacks before but lately they were occurring more often and in increasing intensity. Leaving wet footprints on the carpet, she rushed into the kitchen where she had left her purse. Her hands shook as she felt around until she could find the bottle of medicine her doctor had prescribed for her. Breaking one of the little white tablets in half she threw it in her mouth, grabbed a bottle of cold water from the fridge and swallowed. Flinging the cabinet door open and frantically searching for the aspirin bottle she poured out three or four and almost choked on them as she tried to swallow and get her breath at the same time. Feeling a tightness start in her chest like a severe case of indigestion, she grabbed the box of Alka Seltzer and ripped open a package dumping them into a glass. She paced the kitchen as they dissolved. Raising the glass to her lips she felt it was cutting off her breath just being near her face. She took a deep breath and downed the seltzer in one drink. Walk it off Willa ... Clear the mind ... Nothing's the matter ... Walk around... Breathe ... Go outside ... Breathe...
