Is It Alive? is aligned to the Common Core State Standards for English/Language Arts, addressing Literacy. RI. K.2 and Literacy. L. K.5. This book introduces readers to the concept of whether things are alive with a large labeled photograph of living and non-living things. Objects such as trees, soccer balls, and cows along with explanatory text demonstrate the differentiating factors between living things and nonliving things. A graphic organizer in the back of the book places four objects into the categories of living and nonliving so that readers can review the concept. This book should be paired with "Living or Nonliving" (9781448887460) from the Rosen Common Core Readers Program to provide the alternative point of view on the same topic.
