James Silk Buckingham
The author James Silk Buckingham (1786–1855) published the Calcutta Journal until his expulsion in 1823 for his criticisms of the East India Company. Originally published between 1824 and 1853, these four pieces illuminate the contemporary colonial debates surrounding press freedom and the future of British rule in India.
