Lost, nearly murdered, the Gentle Stepper finds herself stewarding a boy who would be king, a prince that will rule the nation, if his enemies do not kill him first. The island nation must be crossed again and again, fighting enemies that will not relent. Other islands must be reached in the effort to secure this kingdom, and others. The prince has few friends, and only one regent, the Gentle Stepper. Episodes of peace are few and far between. The Gentle Stepper strives to do all she can to establish the young prince, and yet enemies sit at every corner, resisting his right to rule.
