"I swear, I didn't kill my wife!" Rory Chandler, a self-acknowledged "sucker for a tough case," has just agreed to represent a man charged with killing his wife.  She believes her client, Jeff Korbin, to be innocent, but the evidence against him is compelling. Six months prior to her death, Kathie Korbin had taken out a Protection from Abuse order against Korbin who has no alibi. Korbin has refused a plea bargain and the district attorney has threatened to ask for the death penalty. Hoping her husband, Marcus, a forensic psychologist, will give her guidance as he usually does, Rory is baffled by her husband's strong disapproval of her involvement in the case. As Rory and her summer interns uncover possible evidence of Korbin's innocence, she finds herself entangled in a web of intrigue and personal danger, which may implicate people in positions of power in the legal community. Rory must find evidence to set a man free and answers to questions about the case that have locked her in the sights of a killer.
