Coming off a long stint working undercover for the Los Angeles Police Department, Officer Matt Gold becomes an overnight internet sensation. After amateur video footage of him flying out of a burning hotel goes viral, Matt is unable to escape the attention caused by the video's popularity. Not only that, he can't shake his new nickname: Superhero Jesus. When he learns about the murder of his close friend in Honolulu, Matt flees from the mainland and heads to the island to pay his respects, hoping to find some much-needed rest while he's there. But things don't go exactly as planned. Matt is brought in by the local precinct to help with the investigation and finds himself right back in the limelight. Grumpy detectives, irrational hitmen, and laid-back drug dealers are just some of the hurdles Matt has to overcome. At the end of the day, Matt's not sure if he'll ever be able to look at paradise the same way again.
