What is it like to flee from violence in your country to a place where you thought you would find safety, only to discover a place where you are unwanted? The colored edition of this book of short poems, A Child Left Behind, is a poignant insight into the world we live in. As waves of children flee from the poverty and persecution they are suffering in countries around the world and make perilous journeys towards the promise of a better life, they find not the salvation they seek, but a ruthless and harsh country that has wealth beyond imagination. Read it now, as a timely reminder of the world we live in and our inability to see beyond an extra mouth to feed, to the child that lies beneath.
