Why men Don't Come Home After Five
Dr Danny F. Ellis
There are numerous reasons why a man chooses to delay his arrival to the portal entry of what should be his safe place, his home. Why Men Don't Come Home After Five sheds light on two behaviors that are prevalent but mystical to a man's ability to understand why he chooses to circle the block in his neighborhood several times before he goes home, or why he chooses to hang out at the bar after work. Indirect Aggression and Passive Aggression are behaviors that can subtly wreak havoc in our homes, churches, workplace, and our community. It is more dominant in the black community and among women. Indirect Aggression is conceptualized as a form of aggression in which a perpetrator attempts to harm the target while concurrently trying to obscure their intent. The underlying factor that undergirds this behavior is jealously. Passive Aggression presents a different set of variables. Passive Aggression is a deliberate and masked way of expressing covert feelings of anger. This "sugar coated hostility" involves a variety of behaviors designed to get back at another person without the other recognizing the underlying anger. Often times, men are faced with this behavior in multiple environments; however, the real difficulty for men is when they are faced with this behavior at home. This book does not offer a prescription to what the author thinks is a real pathological problem within the Black community. What the author offers in this book are biblical backdrops to encourage the reader to look at their present situation internally for strength and upwardly for guidance. Relationships are messy and require the constant oversight of the ultimate Master.
