Blank, College-ruled Composition Book. Featuring Lake LeBoeuf in Waterford, Pennsylvania. Situated in Waterford Township, in Northwest Pennsylvania, the 70-acre, 13,000 year-old Lake LeBoeuf was formed by the receding of the Wisconsin glacier during Pleistocene Era of the Ice Age. As the ice blocks melted they created water-filled "kettles." The lake joins French Creek four miles to the south after passing through LeBoeuf Gardens. In a 1910 Waterford Souvenir book, the Lake is described as a beautiful sheet of placid water about a mile across with a wooded island in the center. Noted for its natural beauty, clear, deep waters, and a variety of fish from perch to musky, the wooded shores offered pleasant opportunities for rest, recreation and camping. From the late 1870's to the 1970's, the Lake was a popular vacation spot for camping, fishing, and boating. People came from all over the tri-state area, which was a boon to town business. In later years, cottages and camping areas were filled from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
