Living from Here
Bruce McConnell
A fifty-year retrospective, these 41 poems allow the reader to see and experience, at a deeper, wordless level, a mind flowing through time from youth to full maturity, in a remarkably high state of awareness, wonder, vulnerability, and daring. This is poetry brave, passionate, insightful and full of life. All we are given is as a gift:
Gratitude for living, and chances
To know and love another well.
Now, the grit to cultivate
Patience, compassion, courage fair;
Equanimity amidst deep conflict;
Humility and thankfulness for
What delicious forms and moments
The Universe may offer in its time
To such unworthy, blessèd pilgrims. -- from "Letting Go"
