Wounds of Color

Traveling back in time, we find many great people who have died doing all that they could to correct the wrong notions and understandings of the superiority and inferiority of humans. One of the greatest human being of all times, Mr. Abraham Lincoln, President of US during the American civil war. In the year 1863, it was he who declared "that all persons held as slaves" within the rebellious states "are, and henceforward shall be free." This declaration outlawed the practice and the belief of slavery. I wonder what gave this color discrimination such prominence that by the approach of the 21st century it spread around the world like wild fire and became so harmful and destructive in nature. The concept of "race" crystallized in late renaissance Europe at the dawn of the age of colonialism. Its purpose was to galvanize nation-states and to justify the abuses of colonialism. It was also a result of early psychological fear in humans against humans. Human beings have always been and still are inherently curious so their central concern specially in the past was whether the other human being is a friend or a foe. This can be best understood if we look at the history of native people who were less developed and less cultured, we are aware of how they were treated. Even though we were outsiders for them since they were the original settlers yet we treated them as outsiders. This was because of the fear in us for being considered and treated as outsiders. Racism is not an evolutionary trait. Racism is only a stimulant that boosts the ego of an individual or a community or a society to develop and grow and increase the size and strength of such people who believe in their right to practice these differences, which they use to control other human beings psychology and morale. Discrimination is also due to envious feelings from being jealous of other's prosperity and social and financial status.
