Sarge: Reflections on a Star
Joseph Kozenczak
Sarge: Reflections On A Star is the true account of Sergeant John Sarnowski who served the Chicago Police Department for 35 years. His dynamic, sometimes controversial career was highlighted by his work on several notorious murder cases, including the Schuessler- Peterson homicides in 1955. Sarnowski crusaded to retain the civil service system and supported the formation of a union in the police department. His personal accounts as a supervising sergeant at the contentious Democratic Convention and of lawsuits resulting from internal departmental politics provide historic insight into a major city police department that was evolving and maturing.
