From the ashes of WWII rose two rivaling factions, competing for the control of the United States and consequently the world. One was orchestrated from Moscow. Its members became known as NeoLibs. The other, an organization of former high-ranking Nazis, furtively referred to as BSS, operated without apparent leadership, yet formed a closely-held union with a firm grip on global politics and industry. Their strategies were stealth, deception, assassination and most importantly, fine-tuned incrementalism. At first, these to groups fought each other politically and ideologically but the BSS quickly learned to manipulate NeoLibs for their own ends, considering them 'useful idiots'. During his twenty years as an army psychologist, Colonel Hal Hilmer came to realize that a sinister scheme was gradually taking hold of the United States government. The commanders of the armed forces agree. Together they devise a counterplot. In an ultra-secret location, far from prying eyes, Colonel Hilmer begins to train specialists of every genere. Their goal is to infiltrate the infiltrators and take back the country in an essentially bloodless coup. Unbeknown to the Colonel and his inner circle, a surreal ripple effect of a totally unrelated drama that started decades ago, runs prallel to their design. When these two unlikely forces suddenly dovetail at a crucial point of the maturing coup, the juncture seems to be nothing short of a predestined hand, dealt to save the republic.
