International Communications and Economics

Today's world is getting smaller. Not actually, but communication, having improved by quantum leaps, makes it seem so. Now all we have to do is use the technology well while still maintaining a level of civility. The difference between developed and developing countries is stark in many ways; yet everyone has a cell phone. The key to most communication is making an effort to understand that which is different. Not an easy task. Let's face it, would you rather be in Germany or the Congo? Off the top of my head I can think of inequality for women and a satisfaction with less space. One must be careful of prejudging because many of the developing countries are very wealthy in natural resources and could gain on developed countries rapidly in the future. Of course, the past tells us advancement is far more complicated. These resource rich countries have always had them and been unable to progress in the past. There is already evidence that, in spite of human nature, communications and other advances in technology have changed the way even the war mongers think. Beating up on others for personal gain is much more dangerous than it was. It will be interesting to see if advances in technology and communication can keep up with man's propensity toward greed and selfishness which ruins most everything he touches. Time will tell which is better for man, a one world government or local economies.
