What's the worst thing you've ever done? Imagine having to reenact it night after night in front of a voracious audience.
Impresario Randall "Rhadamanthus" Flynn has made this hellish punishment a reality at the Mountebank Theater. In a city descending into lawlessness, Flynn uses the onstage humiliation of criminals to legitimize seizing control of the underworld.
The Mountebank's current headliner is the crooner, Rico Daggett, whose show portrays the loss of his wife at sea under suspicious circumstances years ago. As the engagement draws to a close, rumor spreads that the final performance will see Daggett's wife finally avenged--an unforgettable showstopper!
Will this spectacle help solidify Flynn as ganglord of the city? Or will one of his enemies take vengeance of their own?
This modern take on the Elizabethan revenge tragedy is set on the other side of the world near the end of the Cold War. Full of plots and betrayals, disguises and vengeful spirits, it is perfect for fans of the genre looking for new twists.
